Causes of skin cracks
The formation of cracks on the body in dermatology is very common. One of the reasons for the manifestation of the defect is weather conditions. Very often, in windy weather, the skin begins to crack, this is especially noticeable in the lip area.
In dermatology, two factors are distinguished under the influence of which cracks are formed. They are exogenous and endogenous. The first group includes:
- negative effects on the body with various chemicals;
- ignoring moisturizers;
- personal hygiene and poor hand-drying;
- allergic reactions;
- infectious diseases.
The second group includes the following reasons:
- avitaminosis;
- neurodermatitis;
- inflammatory processes;
- lichen;
- hereditary problems leading to keratinization of the skin;
- hormonal disorders;
- diabetes;
- autoimmune diseases that cause damage to the skin.
Cracks often cause severe discomfort. In the most severe cases, a person cannot even take care of himself. And ignoring the situation and lack of treatment can lead to more serious consequences, in the form of infection or purulent infection. Often, such defects force a person to even change their profession.
Skin treatment begins with the elimination of the very cause that led to the onset of the disease. If it is an allergy, then an allergen is detected, with which interaction is not recommended in the future, and blockers are prescribed to the patient, which will protect the body from the negative effects of various factors.
With diabetes mellitus, it is necessary to strictly monitor the blood glucose level and take special medications. In case of problems with the thyroid gland, you should consult an endocrinologist and restore hormonal levels.
For the direct treatment of the crack itself, medical glue is very popular today in medicine, which seals the wound and does not allow microbes to penetrate inside, thereby accelerating healing.
Moisturizers for the skin
As we wrote above, one of the reasons for cracking is to ignore moisturizers. However, their inept use will not bring the desired result. To avoid the troubles associated with dry skin, pay attention to the following guidelines:
- If you have been using the same cream for a long time, then change it. After getting used to the components of one product, the skin ceases to react to them. Be sure to pay attention to the components included in the new cream. Glycolic, hyaluronic and lactic acids must be present in moisturizing preparations, since they not only moisturize the skin, but also retain moisture in it for a long time.
- Use thermal water before using the cream.
- In addition to creams, apply moisturizing masks twice a week.
- Do not expose your skin to direct UV rays for prolonged periods of time. Do not overcool your body in winter.
- Do baths with essential oils not only for the face, but also for the whole body.
- Moisturize the body from the inside, drink plenty of clean water.
- Watch the air in the room where you are, it should not be too dry.
- Do not use hot water for washing.
These simple tips will help you avoid dry skin at any time of the year.
At home, you can make a lot of different moisturizers:
- masks;
- cream;
- tonics;
- tinctures;
- lotions;
- decoctions;
- compresses;
- ice cubes;
- cocktails.
Below are some recipes for homemade moisturizers.
Moisturizing skin masks
The most popular mask with a good moisturizing effect is cucumber. To prepare it, combine 2 tablespoons of mashed cucumber with a teaspoon of fatty sour cream and rose water. Apply the mixture to your face for a few minutes and rinse with warm water.
You can enhance the effect of the mask by additionally wiping your face with a cotton pad dipped in a herbal cocktail. You can do it yourself. To do this, combine a tablespoon of mint, coltsfoot and chamomile herb. Pour the mixture with 100 ml of boiling milk, wrap the vessel with a warm towel and let stand until the mixture has completely cooled.
During the day, if you notice dryness on your face, rub it with a toner. A composition with strawberries is well suited for these purposes. Mash 3 tablespoons of berries and pour 150 ml of hot water, add 1.5 tsp. glycerin. Let the mixture cool and strain. The tonic is ready to use.
Here's a recipe for another oatmeal mask to help hydrate your skin. Mash the yolk with a spoonful of ground oatmeal, add a little olive oil. Apply the composition to your face for a while, then remove the remaining mixture.
