Japanese style in the interior
Japanese style is considered one of the most austere interior styles. It has its own clear and concise rules. In other styles, it is quite easy to replace elements with each other, but the Japanese style is based on adherence to the canons.

Japanese style and its features
The Japanese style is characterized by several fundamental principles:
- Japanese style is very similar to minimalism, but unlike the latter, it is much more elegant and softer. This is achieved by using floral motifs and pastel shades.
- A Japanese-style interior should be filled with light and air. At the same time, the room should be concisely and practically organized. Everything should be very functional; interior elements can only be used that are used for their intended purpose.
- Interiors in the style of the land of the rising sun must be decorated only with natural materials. Natural ingredients should be used for both finishing and decoration.
- All interior items should have a simple geometric shape. Only some decorative elements can have complex ornate contours. For example, wall panels.
Japanese style kitchen
Such features of the Japanese style as neutral colors and laconicism make it suitable for decorating almost any kitchens. This style can be used for both large and small rooms. It looks equally good in well-lit “southern” kitchens and in “northern” ones, where the sun only lasts a few hours.
For registration walls Decorative plaster or wooden panels are perfect, or you can simply paint the walls with light paint. Most often, an apron for a “Japanese” kitchen is made of large tiles, stone mosaics, or trimmed with large stones. The actual design of the apron was made with photo printing.
The floor covering must be wooden, always dark in color, polishing is allowed. If your budget cannot support natural flooring or parquet boards, then decorate the floor with colored tiles in white and brown tones. To decorate the ceiling, multi-level structures, wood paneling, contrasting-colored wooden beams or a stretch ceiling with photo printing are ideal.
Choose furniture made of wood, with a strict geometric shape. Facades must be smooth and continuous, without panels. The ideal option is facades without handles. The use of glass inserts made of frosted glass is allowed. If the kitchen area allows, install a massive dining table. For a small kitchen, you should choose a table with a lightweight structure and a glass top. Make the lighting uniform. To do this, in addition to the main chandelier, it is recommended to install spots along the entire perimeter of the ceiling to obtain diffused lighting. Lamps, like other decorative items, should be made in eco-style - wooden, woven from straw, made from rice paper.
Japanese style living room
Since many people are accustomed to Western design traditions, they may find Japanese style uncomfortable. This style is characterized by low furniture, the absence of personal belongings, paintings, family photographs, souvenirs and other things in the interior. But some manage to quite organically adapt their tastes to the minimalist Japanese interior.
For decoration, pastel light colors are used; black and white colors are allowed to create contrast. If you love bright colors, then add some bright accessories. Japanese style assumes a calm, peaceful atmosphere. Therefore, sofas and armchairs should be low, with clear geometric shapes. A low coffee table will fit well here. The interior will be complemented by several decorative pillows, like those used in Japan during tea drinking, and curtains with national ornament.
Furniture in a Japanese living room is appropriate from natural materials, preferably a light shade. Its design should also be as simple as possible, without frills. Bonsai, ikebana, cherry blossoms or scrolls with hieroglyphs can be used as decorative elements.
Japanese style bedroom
As with other Japanese-style rooms, neutral pastel colors are preferred for decorating the bedroom, which are appropriate to complement with some contrasting color. Don't choose several bright shades at once. The lighting in such a bedroom should be soft. This effect can be achieved by wearing paper lampshades instead of ordinary glass ones, which is quite consistent with the Japanese style.
It is appropriate to place mats on a wooden floor. If you want to save money, then choose bamboo laminate or just linoleum with the appropriate pattern. To decorate the walls, it is best to use wooden panels or upholster them with plain fabric. If you decide not to deviate from tradition and use wallpaper for your walls, then choose one with ethnic patterns or traditional Japanese patterns.
To decorate the ceiling, it is appropriate to use suspended structures and glass inserts. This gives a feeling of weightlessness and tenderness.
There should be a minimum amount of furniture. Choose a low and wide bed. Bedside tables must be present. For convenience, you can make a built-in wardrobe and niches with lighting at the head of the bed.
Both natural and synthetic fabrics are suitable for window decoration. They can be draped in lush folds or consist of smooth canvases covering the window in the form of a screen. It is appropriate to use Japanese fans or swords as accessories. Dolls in national kimonos can be placed on the shelves. Figurines of Japanese gods would look appropriate in the niches. Indoor plants and floor vases with ikebana will complement the interior.
