- children - girls up to 13 years old, boys up to 15;
- mentally retarded;
- people who are married, or about to marry each other (godparents cannot have sexual relationships, because in this case they are spiritual relatives).
However, there is one correction about people of a different faith. If you do not have close relatives or acquaintances of the same faith with you, but there is a person of another faith, whom you completely and infinitely trust, then he may well be your godfather crumb.
Your close relatives: grandmothers, grandfathers, aunts, uncles, sisters or brothers will also easily become godparents to the child. According to the Orthodox tradition, it is the godmother and dad who are obliged to take custody of the godson if the real parents leave for another world.
