Kefir-based pie: step-by-step recipe with photos
If you want to please your household delicious pastries, but you don’t have the time or desire to tinker with “classic” yeast dough, then this recipe will be a godsend for you. After all, kefir-based pies are a “lifesaver” for every housewife. They are prepared quickly, simply and always turn out delicious. Today I will share with you a recipe for such a pie filled with chicken and potatoes.
Chicken and potato pie: ingredients
To prepare the dough you will need the simplest ingredients:
- kefir of any fat content – 1 glass;
- flour – 1 glass;
- chicken eggs – 2 pcs. (or one large one with two yolks like mine);
- soda – 1 level teaspoon;
- salt - half a teaspoon.
For the filling of the filling pie I used:
- chicken breast - half;
- medium-sized potatoes - 2 pcs.;
- onions – 1 pc.;
- salt to taste.
I would like to note that the filling of such a pie can be completely different - hearty or sweet. In my opinion, the most successful are the traditional options with chicken and potatoes, minced meat, fish and rice. If you are going to bake sweet pie, then apples are ideal for the filling; first you need to caramelize them a little with sugar.
All the above ingredients make a small pie if you want to please delicious pastries a large company, then simply double the quantity of all products.
How to make bulk pie with chicken and potatoes
I boiled the chicken breast in advance. You can do the same with potatoes. But there is another very quick option for preparing it - wash the tubers thoroughly and bake them in the microwave right in the skins until done. This usually takes 6-9 minutes depending on the size of the potatoes.
At this time, I mixed a glass of kefir and soda in a container and left them to “interact” for 5 minutes.
Then I added the remaining ingredients for the dough into the container - egg, salt and sifted flour. Mix thoroughly so that there are no lumps left. The consistency of the dough should be similar to sour cream. If it turns out a little liquid, you can correct the situation by adding a little more flour.
Before preparing the filling, I turned the oven on to 180 degrees so that it had time to warm up well.
I cut the chicken breast into small pieces.
I chop the onion and fry it in a frying pan until transparent.
Next, I peel the potatoes, chop them and mix all the ingredients together in a separate container. They definitely need to be salted.
I grease the pie pan with vegetable oil (it can be replaced with a piece of butter) and sprinkle with semolina. The dimensions of my form are 21*22 cm.
Pour half of the dough into the mold.
I spread the filling.
Pour in the rest of the dough and distribute it evenly so that it covers the entire surface.
I put the pie in the oven for about 25-30 minutes. Here you need to monitor the degree of browning, because some people like it browner, and others not so much.
After you turn off the heat, you need to let it brew a little more. This is the golden brown cake I got.
