Why acclimatization takes place
It is difficult to find a person who does not like to travel. Trips are always new experiences, an opportunity to learn something interesting. However, not everyone can easily adapt to changes in time zones, climate or altitude. It takes time for a person to get used to it. This process is called acclimatization.
Acclimatization symptoms
Acclimatization does not occur immediately, it is a gradual process. It usually starts the day after arriving at a new location and lasts three to four days. It can manifest itself in different ways, but basically the symptoms are as follows:
- severe fatigue;
- sleep disturbance: insomnia or, conversely, excessive sleepiness;
- headaches that can occur paroxysmal;

- sudden mood swings;
- aches all over the body;
- violation of coordination of movements;
- exacerbation of chronic diseases;
- poor appetite;
- state of apathy, indifference to everything that happens;
- a slight increase in body temperature.
In addition, during acclimatization, a decrease in pressure, anxiety, and intestinal disorders are possible. Some tourists, upon arrival at southern resorts, experience symptoms such as nausea and even vomiting. Often the fault is not spoiled food, but the usual acclimatization. To help unpleasant symptoms go away faster, you need to drink more water, not overload the stomach with heavy foods and avoid excessive physical exertion.
How is acclimatization in children
Acclimatization is usually necessary for both adults and children. The child's body often tolerates stress more easily, but not in terms of adapting to a new environment.
For example, when traveling to seaside resorts, this process can take at least five days. If a child allergic, the symptoms may be more intense. Therefore, pediatricians recommend planning a trip for at least 20 days when traveling with a baby, since a significant part of the time will be spent on the road and acclimatization.
Why acclimatization takes place
Acclimatization is a negative reaction of the body to the need to adapt to new conditions. The climate in a new place can be much better, but a person is not used to it, so at first he may feel unwell.
The state of health is influenced by temperature and air humidity, solar activity and other factors. All this affects not only physiology, but also the psyche. Anyone can experience acclimatization symptoms, but it is most common in children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.
Most often, acclimatization manifests itself if a person gets from winter to summer, it is no coincidence that doctors do not recommend such trips. At this time, the process of heat transfer is disrupted among travelers, which causes malfunctions in the functioning of the respiratory system and the cardiovascular system. In this case, the state of health is influenced not only by the air temperature, but even by other food and drinking water at the resort.
Another type of acclimatization is high-altitude. It often occurs among ski enthusiasts, mountain climbers and all people who are attracted by heights.
At this time, a person is much higher than sea level, which causes oxygen starvation. At this time, sudden pressure drops and a decrease in hemoglobin levels can occur.
Experts believe that it is not worth fighting with acclimatization. You should not torment an already tired body, it is better to just rest for two or three days. Such passive rest is sometimes necessary: during this time, the malaise will pass, and you can heartily enjoy the rest.
